Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of mother s attitude toward young children s emotional expression and communication ability on young children s self-regulation. A survey was conducted on 155 mothers with children aged 3 to 5 who attend kindergartens and daycare centers located in I city. The collected data were analyzed using the program SPSS 25.0. Cronbach s ¥á coefficient was estimated for the reliability of the research instruments and pearson s correlation analysis was carried out to find out the correlation between research variables. Lastly, multiple regression analysis was also performed to determine the relative influence of mother s attitude toward young children s emotional expression and communication ability on young children s self-regulation. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, there was no statistically significant correlation between the mother s attitude toward young children s emotional expression and the young children s self-regulation, but there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the mother s communication ability and the young children s self-regulation. Second, it was found that the mother s communication ability, excluding the mother s attitude toward young children s emotional expression, influences the self-regulation of early childhood children. These results suggest that the mother s communication ability is an important predictor of the young children s self-regulations.
